Budo-Nord Kata - a legend in Swedish karate. Budo-Nord Kata has been on the market since the early 80s. The development began in the early 70s when the suits imported by Budomateriel AB under Asian brands generated a number of complaints from customers. Budo-Nord moved the production of top suits to Värmland and raised the level of materials and sewing. For a time, suits were exported to a number of countries in Europe. Towards the end of the 1980s, production was moved to Taiwan in a factory with a focus on quality. It was here that 'brushed canvas' was developed, a fabric made from heavy cotton canvas but with a roughened and soft surface. Brushed canvas became a great success and has since been copied by many others. Budo-Nord Kata has been the national team costume in Sweden for almost all years since the 80s. It has also been the national team costume in Denmark and Norway for many years.
