Creatine
Creatine is a very common dietary supplement used to increase strength and muscle volume. It is sold as a dietary supplement in a number of chemical forms, the best known being creatine monohydrate which is a white, crystalline powder with moderate water solubility. The substance is converted in the body to the active form creatine phosphate and exerts its effect mainly in the muscles, by donating the phosphate group to the ADP molecule, so that new ATP can be formed. ATP is the universal energy donor, which is used to drive otherwise impossible reactions in all known now living organisms. The effects of creatine dietary supplements are scientifically documented and mainly deal with increased explosiveness in the muscles, which provides benefits in, among other things, powerlifting, sprint running, jumping and throwing disciplines.
