Puzzle Mats

When choosing mats, it is easy to end up buying a product that cannot be used in public places because they violate fire regulations and do not comply with CE rules. Even if the mat is not intended for public environments, you do not want a product that is a fire hazard and may also contain toxins and harmful heavy metals.

Physical activity can take a brutal toll on the body. Ankles, knees – in fact, all joints are heavily stressed by the enormous forces during physical activity. In many sports, the foot – and thereby the joints – is protected by different shock-absorbing systems built into the shoes. Most martial arts are practiced barefoot, and shock absorption must therefore come from something other than shoes. It must be provided by the mat.

The BUDO-NORD Puzzle Mat is perhaps best known as a mat within various martial arts, but in recent years many gyms with group training have also invested in this mat. In these contexts, the most popular colors are gray, black, and white.

This alone would be reason enough to choose BUDO-NORD puzzle mats, which are made entirely of shock-absorbing polymer. Budo-Nord puzzle mats also feature a newly developed puzzle pattern that dramatically extends the mat’s life and makes them easier to assemble and disassemble.

Budo-Nord puzzle mats meet the requirements of CE Directive EN-71 and have passed the EN71 Part 2:2003 fire test. In fact, Budo-Nord puzzle mats are so safe that they are certified for use in preschools!

Budo-Nord puzzle mats are easy to use. No special preparations are needed. The mats can be laid on any smooth surface. Assembly is simple and can be done without prior experience. Before placing mats on the floor, wipe the floor and remove all loose objects. Start in the middle and work outwards. Wipe the mats before stacking them for storage. Stack them so that no single edge sticks out. If the mats are dirty, clean them with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For thorough cleaning, wash them one at a time with warm water and mild detergent.

The mats are easy to cut with a utility knife. Practical if you need to work around pillars or want a straight edge.

The Budo-Nord Puzzle Mat is available in thicknesses of 23 mm and 40 mm (softer). All mats can be ordered with different colors on each side. Some mats are normally in stock (see above). Other colors are available to order, with longer delivery times. For technical reasons, not all colors can be reproduced exactly.

The puzzle mats are easy to lay out and can be set up quickly even with untrained staff. We estimate that four people can lay out an area of 180 m² in less than half an hour. Removing the mats is even faster. We have also developed special storage and transport bags for the mats. They are made of durable PVC fabric and protect the mats during storage and transport. Each bag holds 10 mats. The bags significantly extend the mats’ lifespan. Our experience shows that most wear on mats occurs during handling and transport.

The lifespan of the mats is difficult to estimate. When laid permanently, we can confidently say the lifespan exceeds ten years. Many of our customers still use mats that are more than 10 years old. If they are moved regularly, there is a risk of wear, especially on the puzzle joints. If interested, we can provide a quote for protective storage bags.

The mats are cleaned with standard cleaning agents (such as Ajax or similar products available in stores). Normally, it is sufficient to use a damp cloth.
